Weekly Update for

The Knitter's Edge

This week we will be open Tuesday & Wednesday for regular hours. We will be closed Thursday & Friday for the holiday. We reopen on Saturday for regular hours.

We have many ideas for last minute projects- 2 are in this newsletter- and we have many more at the shop- stop by and ask- we will help you get a project done before Christmas.

Kids Class News

KIDS CLASS CLINIC-- CALLING ALL KIDS!!!

If you know how to knit and need to learn some new skills, these classes may be for you. Sign up for one, two... or all! Buy a Teddy Bear at The Knitter's Edge and knit something for him or her. You will learn some new skills- casting on, binding off, purling, ribbing, increases, decreases, working on double points, etc, while knitting an outfit, or accessories for your bear. You bring the bear (whether one purchased from The Knitter's Edge, or one from home - 10-12" is best)-- and we will supply everything else you need. Class size will be limited to 8 students, so you MUST sign up. Call or stop by The Knitter's Edge- 610-419-9276.

Clinic Classes:

Saturday 12/26-- 10-12. (1:30-3:30 will be the normal kids class)

Tuesday 12/29-- 10-12

Wednesday 12/30-- 10-12

Thursday 12/31-- 10-12

Last Minute Projects

Even though it is Christmas week, there is still time to get some gifts both started & finished! Either of these projects could be started on Christmas Eve- and still be ready for holiday giving.

Gift #1: Big Softie Neckwarmer. This project takes 3 balls of Big Softie, and just 1 hour of knitting time!

Materials: Big Softie- 3-50g balls

Gauge: ~1.5 sts = 1" over st st.

Needles: Size 17 needles, plus 1 large button.

Size: Approx. 5 x 40"

Scarf:

With all 3 strands of yarn held together, loosely cast on 7 sts.

Work in seed stitch as follows:

Row 1: K1, *(p1, k1); repeat from * across.

Repeat row 1 for every row to desired length or until almost out of yarn.

Bind off loosely in seed st. Weave in all ends. Sew on 1 button- centered about 6" up from one end.

Push button through fabric for self made buttonhole.

Gift #2: Encore Mega Dotted Swiss Cowl
We recently received a lot more Encore Mega. It only takes 2-100g balls and about 2 hours to knit up this Cowl.

Materials: Encore Mega: 2- 100g balls
Gauge: 2 sts = 1" over st st.
Needles: Size 16" US 15 needle.
Size: Approx. 24" x 25" around.

Cowl:
Loosely cast on 50 sts.
Place marker and join, taking care not to twist the sts. Knit 1 round, purl 1 round.
Begin pattern: Round 1-4: Knit.
Round 5:   *(YO, k2tog); repeat from * around.
Repeat the last 5 rounds to desired width, or until almost out of yarn, ending with a round 4.
Purl 1 round.
Bind off loosely knitwise.
Weave on all ends.

Tidbits!

Liberty High Students knit up some warmth!

Liberty small afghan

The Family and Consumer Sciences Craft Class of Liberty High School completed a Service Learning Project for The Warm Up America Organization. This knitted afghan will be donated to a deserving family in our community, in hopes of making their holiday and New Year happier and warmer. Nice job students!
