This Weekend at

The Knitter's Edge

We are at 265 hats as of 1/21! Shocking number- and oh so terrific! The collection of hats for charity will go on forever, but the collection for the drawing will end on Feb 2 (a Tuesday). We will draw the winner that evening.

In the next week or so we are adding many new classes- several of them requested by all of you.

It is time for Sam the Ram- Sue the Ewe is getting lonely. Sam can be knitted with several weights of yarn. Your choice.

Valentine Beaded Ball

Photo to come next Tuesday (my camera card just went on the fritz!) Its a shiny knitted red ball with white beaded hearts all around.

If you made one of the beaded Christmas balls- you already know how much fun this is, and how easy too. Join Lynn for a one of a kind Valentine gift! All materials provided.

The January Challenge- We are reaching new heights!

We are on our way to 300 hats! Right now we have 265, and I know we will hit 300 before the weekend is over.

Remember-as an added incentive- for every hat brought in- we will add your name to a drawing for 3 prizes to be awarded on Feb 2 in the evening.

Only 1 rule: To get your name into the drawing- please use yarn from the Knitter's Edge. We will accept hats knitted in other yarns- as the need for these items goes far beyond our need to sell yarn, but we feel it is fair to restrict the prizes to our customers. We will have lots of yarns available at low to bargain prices so this will not be a hardship for anyone.

January Challenge Hat Pattern- Another Mega Hat

ENCORE MEGA

Garter Brim Hat

Size: 1 Size fits most adults

Materials: 1 ball of Encore Mega

Needles: 16" circular size 15; plus double points- size 11 or 13; 1 marker.

Gauge: 2 sts =1" over st st on size 15 needles.

Loosely cast on 40 sts. Place marker and join into the round, taking care not to twist the sts.

Work in Garter st (purl 1 round, knit 1 round) for 11 rounds total- ending with a purl round.

Continue in st st- knit every round until total length is 6", ending at the marker.

Begin decreases, changing to double pointed needles when needed.

Decrease:

Rd 1: *(K6, k2tog); repeat from * around.

Rd 2: *(K5, k2tog); repeat from * around.

Rd 3: *(K4, k2tog); repeat from * around.

Rd 4: *(K3, k2tog); repeat from * around.

Rd 5: *(K2, k2tog); repeat from * around.

Rd 6: *(K1, k2tog); repeat from * around.

Rd 7: *(K2tog); repeat from * around.

Cut yarn, pull through remaining sts. Pull up tight and anchor.

What are the classes up to?

The Kids classes certainly benefited from Marilyn's Christmas vacation knitting clinics. These young knitters are increasing their skill levels with each class session. Here you see a rabbit partially designed and totally knitted by Erica.

Steph just finished this adorable mouse- this should be an

upcoming class.

Knitted on tiny needles- but very doable.

Lastly, a very big announcement- Wendy has FINALLY finished her husband's sweater. (Can I write that word any bigger???)

Boy, those 6 years went by so fast!

Nice job Wendy-- we are all very proud, as you should be!
