This Weekend at

The Knitter's Edge

I hope everyone survived April Fool's Day. We look forward to the Easter holiday this weekend which to me really marks the passage into Spring.

If you have holiday guests visiting may we suggest a trip to your favorite yarn shop! We will be open regular hours on both Friday and Saturday. All classes are scheduled as usual.

SPECIAL KID'S CLINIC THIS WEEK

For this holiday weekend- Marilyn is offering Clinic classes for our youngest knitters:

The Thursday clinic classes have been well received and there is still one on Friday: 1:00 - 3:00 PM.

The afternoon sessions are skill-building clinics for those who already know how to knit and want to learn more (casting on, binding off, purl stitch for stockinette & basketweave, increases & decreases).... with the final product being a small Easter basket.

If possible, students should bring size 10.5 or 11 needles.

Mia- a 5 year old who just started knitting at 6 PM Thursday night. By 8:30 PM this is what she had accomplished:

Steph has just finished her new Spiral Cowl. Knit in Hempathy. Join her on Fridays to make one for yourself. Embellish it with one of the many new shawl pins we have recently added to our showcase at The Knitter's Edge.

Great American Afghan Squares

With Diana

Diana is undertaking a wonderful, yet monumental project- The Great American Afghan.

You can join her to make the afghan, or to just try you hand at these by making just a pillow (only 2 squares). Work on one square at a time with Diana. The first square she knit is the acorn leaf square as seen here.

She has just finished a second square shown above hanging over her first square. She has had some interest in doing this as either an afghan, a throw, or even a pillow. Call for more information and to sign up.

Socks on 2 circs with Pat

This Saturday Pat starts a new sock of the month, This month she has chosen a simple stitch pattern- but one that teaches a new technique- knitting backwards! The sock is called Puppy Love and will look best in a self striping sock yarn- and we have many to choose from including the new Fingerpaints from Cherry Tree Hill (see more below on this yarn)

Saturday April 3

Socks with Eileen

Eileen will be starting the new month with a new sock- knit with a brand new yarn by Cherry Tree Hill. Its called Fingerpaints. Cheryl Potter- owner & master dyer of CTH has discovered a way to make a self striping handpaint sock yarn. We have the first products from her dyepots at The Knitter's Edge. The base yarn is her signature Supersock Select- spun in Peru just for her.

The colorways are new and exciting. Eileen has chosen Morning Glory- a blend of purples and greens that says Spring all day long!

Join Any of Pat's Classes for The Brandywine Shawl

You may join any of Pat's classes and work on this new shawl. The Brandywine Shawl. Pat is knitting it out of Hand Maiden Sea Silk- a Silk/ Sea cell blend that has incredible drape and luxurious shine and color. Just one hank makes this easy lace shawl.

Jan knit this little chick in no time flat out of Oh My! yarn.

See Steph for the free pattern when you join her class to make the chick. Ophelia looks like she has Alissa's fried eggs on her head- Ha!

A blend of Corn and Cotton

Keeping green is the new password, and this yarn qualifies for that title. The coloration is an outstanding blend of gorgeous shades that barely stripe. The weight is very wearable for spring garments. Treat yourself to a yarn with wonderful drape and hand.

Encore is filling the Pool this week. All odd dyelot balls of Encore Worsted have been cleared off of the shelves to fill the pool this week. Great for the many one ball projects for worsted yarn as well as for Fair Isle or striping work. Terrific deal at only $3.50 each- while they last.
