New Lace Class |
The new My First Lace Chart Classes with our new teacher Milly will be held on Thursday mornings June 3, and 10, and on Tuesday evenings June 8, and 15.
Milly has finished and blocked out the scarf you will be making, but this class is about much, much more than a scarf... its about learning about LACE- how it is created, what rules apply and how to read the charts that go with it. Our classes are sometimes more about the process and less about the product- learn HOW to make this stuff happen and you can create anything.
Please call to sign up now for either class- June 3 & 10 at 10-12 noon or June 8 & 15 from 6:30-8:30 PM. The daytime sessions are quite full so I recommend the night sessions. Bring paper and pen to take notes and size 8 needles- straight ones are fine. You will need 2 balls of yarn- either Pure Pima by Berocco or Somerset by
Plymouth. We have both yarns in a wide range of colors. |

AFGHAN CHALLENGE |
The Cornwall Yarn Shop in Cornwall NY has issued a challenge to the fine knitters of the The Knitter's Edge. Gail- the owner thinks that her knitters can out knit our knitters. Well.... I think we need to show just what we can do.
The Challenge is for each shop to knit 20 afghan squares out of Encore Worsted- each a 12" square. These 20 best squares will be judged on their creativity, beauty, etc. Then, 20 overall winners will be chosen from the 40 squares provided by the 2 shops. The shop that has the most "winning squares" will receive a pizza party provided by the losing shop. All squares will be sewn into aghans to be auctioned off for charity. Our charity of choice is Turning Point. All squares must be knit out of Encore Worsted- fall palette colors. Each will take less than 1 ball of yarn. All entries must be in by July 17.
I will be holding some free class sessions to teach how to make sure your square is 12". You know I always like to teach you something with every project we do. Full guidelines for this challenge will be available at The Knitters Edge- or look them over here.

You all remember the 5 hour baby sweater by Elizabeth Zimmermann- the one that took me 10 hours to knit. Well now I have one that will REALLY take you only 5 hours to knit- worked on a size 11 needle from the top down-it was fast, and easy.
This sweater is available in kit form at the shop. We made the kits ourselves, and can make more for you- just pick the color.
LLama Cotton Grande is a very soft yarn made of 70% cotton and 30% Llama. Great for a baby sweater which will take you from Summer into Fall. I have written this in just one size- 9-12 months. Knit in one piece from the top down for minimal finishing.
The Kit includes 2 hanks of Llama Cotton Grande, 5 free buttons of our choice, and the pattern. This is a cute one- you won't want to miss it. On sale this week for only $17.99 for the Kit- just add needles.
And as an added special- ALL Llama Cotton Grande is on sale this weekend at 25% off! |
