Afghan Square Challenge

For those of you who have already participated in this project- I thank you.  But I still need more squares.  So until the end of the month- I will provide you with any square pattern you desire to make a 12" square out of Encore for this wonderful charity project.  See me for more details.    We intend to put together a beautiful afghan of knitted squares.  The afghan will be auctioned off for Turning Point.  Please join us in this worthwhile venture.  See me for more details.

What's New?

New From Artyarns     We have just received a collection of yarns from Artyarns- beautiful Beaded Mohair & Sequins.  We purchased this fine luxury fiber in many colorways- from soft subtle shadings to colorful variations.    With just 1 hank- make a simple triangle shawl.  We have other free patterns available as well.     Another new yarn from Artyarns is CottonSpring.  This ultra soft DK weight cotton will make a lovely baby sweater or shawl.   Now for something really new:    We purchased these licence plate frames- and they are for sale for only $3.99!  But if you don't have anyone to put it on your car for you- we do!  Next Saturday- July 31 we will have someone here at the shop to install your new licence plate frame for you- at no charge.

Nightime Crochet continues this week!

CROCHET! There will be one more session of Beginning Crochet with Pat on Tuesday night July 27.  The class is full with several people on the waiting list.  With such a demand we knew we had to continue featuring Crochet!   So, Pat is now doing a daytime class- on Wednesdays at 10:00 - 12:00.  All levels of crochetters welcome.     We are also in talks with a new teacher- who has Pat's seal of approval- to teach a nighttime crochet class.  We will keep you informed on that issue.  Keep your fingers crossed that it will work out!   For those already signed up for the evening classes- please bring a size G or H hook if you have one,  We supply the yarn to start.  We also have hooks available at the shop for purchase.   Here is a simple beginner's project Pat will be starting this week- on Tuesday night, and on Wednesday morning.  He is a cute little guy crocheted with worsted weight yarn.        Joe Penguin Kits are being assembled and are available for sale.   Other simple crochet projects will appear each week, such as this amigurami cat that Steph is working on.

Blue Heron Is Here!

The owners of BLUE HERON YARN visited last week and left us with a large pile of fantastic yarns. We have 3 yarns:  Rayon Metallic, Soft Twist Rayon, and Egyptian Mercerized Cotton (1000 yd hanks).   These are absolutely beautiful yarns and you will get the very best selection if you can make it in as soon as possible.   Rayon Metallic   Egyptian Mercerized Cotton   Soft Twist Rayon     Pat has finished this gorgeous shawl knit out of 1 hank of the Egyptian mercerized cotton.  This is called the Pine cone lace shawl and will be offered during her classes.

Highlights of upcoming classes and projects

Due to popular demand, I will now be doing a washcloth class every Tuesday evening. Truth is, I tried to cancel last week because there were 3 large classes being conducted that night, but my washcloth knitters showed up anyway. I am so glad they can't take no for an answer. So, from now on every Tuesday evening there will be a washcloth class on the couch and I promise you some great projects will be coming up! 

This coming Tuesday I am planning on this Fountain Lace Cloth- much easier than last week's project that drove everyone crazy. It was indeed a tough one. Bring size 7 needles.

Fair Isle Stocking with Eileen

    

Eileen's Saturday afternoon Sock class is a Christmas in July stocking class this month.  Bring size 6 DPNS, or 2 circulars.  

Use the 2 handed Fair Isle techniques you learned for Linda Miller to speed up your Fair Isle work! 

There is still time to make your own Christmas stocking.  

ANNOUNCEMENT:  This stocking project has been so well received that Eileen has expanded it to be available in any of her classes.    We have the yarn and the pattern- just bring the needles.

Steph is once again teaching this Fair Isle Tam Class- Knit in Cleckheaton Country 8 Ply- this hat never uses more than 2 colors in a row.  With a great sale price on this yarn- you can knit this beauty at a very good price with some wonderful yarn.

 This shawl was knit out of one hank of the Egyptian Cotton from Blue Herron.  An easy to knit design and my goodness how lovely.  Plenty of yarn in that 1000 yard skein to make it plenty big.

My First Socks with JoAnne

 

We did this class once before and it is time to do it again.  Join me for your first sock class- worked on double pointed needles.  Bring needles such as 3's or 4's if you have them.  Yarn and patterns will be available.  We have a few really cool yarns to use for this and you can knit baby, kids or ladies sized socks.
