From Norway with Love

Join Linda Miller to knit up a hat with hearts using your newly mastered 2 handed Fair Isle technique.  This hat requires only 2 hanks of Ashton- one in each color.  And Ashton is sale priced at 25% off.  So you can make up this hat for just about $11.00!

You will need 16" circular size 6 needles.

Linda is willing to help you with this pattern in any of her class sessions- not just Wednesday.

March 8- Thursday 1:00 - 3:00 pm

NEW Beginner crochet class with Amy

This week Amy held a class on crochet flowers.  WOW!! What a crowded class!   I guess Amy hit upon a winner here.  We will do this class again- and soon.  But for right now- we have to stay on crochet schedule...

So for next week- Amy will be teaching the treble crochet stitch by making these shamrocks.    Please bring a size G or H crochet hook and just a couple of extra dollars to purchase the yarn kit to make them.   We will have small inexpensive kits available in Fantasy Naturale and Encore Worsted.  They make a great embellishment or a lapel pin.

This is one of the fastest growing classes we have.  Amy is terrific and she is showing how much fun crochet can be!

ALSO- please note...  Amy encourages all to work on a crochet project of their own choice.  The featured project of week is just a suggestion- and its usually a fun one too.

 Lavanya's class for Beginners-

Thursday mornings 10:00 - 12:00 pm

The Maria Hat

Lavanya will be guiding her beginners  through an Encore Mega hat.  Worked in the round with only knit stitches, this is the perfect first hat project!  You will need 1 ball of Encore Mega and  a 16" size US 15 circular needle.  You should get most, if not all of the hat knit up in just one class session!

Monday March 5-- 10:00 - 12:00 pm

Winged Shawl with Jackie-

This is a wonderful pattern- surprisingly simple yet impressive as can be.  Make yours out of any fingering, DK or even worsted weight yarn- striping ones seem to look the best.   Make it as long as you wish.  With just 2 balls of Noro Silk Garden Sock, Jackie knit hers as shown here.  She added a button tab to allow her to wear it as a capelet.

Short row circle

And for any one who is hesitant to take on this great shawl project- hone your skills at Short rowing with the circle cloth.  For the Shawl, bring size 8-- 24" circulars, but remember- you may need to change to another size needle, depending on your yarn choice.

For the Short row washcloth- bring size 8 needles.  We have the yarn available here.

Thursday  March 8-  10:00 - 12:00 class with JoAnne

Last week we began our trek toward knitting up a REAL doily.  We will be taking it in steps- first of all is a small doily type coaster.  Knitting on small needles??- we can do it!!

Bring size 3 or 4 needles, both a 16" circular and double points.  Also some stitch markers will be helpful.  Yarn available at the shop.

And if thats too much for you- work the small cloth doily knit in Fantasy Naturale, as seen below.

Bring double points and a 16" circular needle size 3, 4 or 7, depending on which project you wish to do.  This is going to be fun, and quite a learning experience.  For this one you need a half ball of Fantasy Naturale, and size 7 needles- both a 16" circular and double points.

Stitch markers will be helpful.  Yarn available at the shop as well.

If neither doily is to your liking- try knitting an entire Apartment building!   For this one bring size 7 needles and a generous half ball of Fantasy Naturale ( that means over 50g).  Yarn available in class as well.

Tuesday evening class with Lavanya-

6:30 - 8:30 pm

Join Lavanya to knit up a chula hat.  Worked in the round, this hat will knit up in a flash on 16" circular needles size US 10.  This hat will look really good in Taria Tweed.  Just one hank will be needed.

Saturday March 3-  babies need to be warm

Try your hand at a baby sweater or blanket

 10:00 - 12:00 class with JoAnne

I want one more week of this class- I really encourage everyone to try one of these sweaters.  These are 2 terrific patterns.

Knitbot sweater

Knit up this really fun baby sweater.  This is the one I knit, and I truely did enjoy the pattern.   The pattern is sized all the way up to a finished 61" ( thats even too big for me) so we can truely say there is a size on this pattern for EVERYBODY!

Baby and Bears Cardigan

Now this is an absolute classic!  On Saturday,  I think I will start one of these myself.  Since almost any weight yarn will do, I have a lot of choices.  If you have any opinions- please help me to decide what yarn to do.  This makes up into a newborn to 3 month size in a DK weight, or a 6- 12 month size in a worsted.

Even chunky can be used to produce a 24 size.  Choices, choices...

8 hour baby afghans

Baby Blanket - There are over 20 patterns available for "8 hour baby afghans".  Each blanket needs just 4 balls of Encore and a 24" circular size 13.   They knit up fast!

MARILYN's Kids classes meet every 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month- 1:00 - 3:00 pm.

Next Kids classes- March 10and March 24.

Pat's Friday Afternoon Class

1:00 - 3:00 pm in January

Spud  & Chloe

Ok Its time to make Chloe now!

Meet Chlo. Her bright, shiny personality comes to life as you stitch her adorable blue jumper and red Mary Jane shoes, and create her gorgeous red ponytail. Chlo is the type to make lemonade out of lemons every chance she gets. Her positive outlook is bound to rub off on her sheep Spud at some point.

REMEMBER:  These projects are only suggestions- you can work on whatever you wish while in class

Friday Mornings & Afternoons with Debra
Beginning March 2!

Debra wants to teach everyone the Magic Loop technique while working on 2 socks at a time.  This is a perfect project for Sockotta Limited, and we still have a little bit left- only $6.99 a ball.

You will need a 40" long needle in a size that works with your chosen yarn.

Pat's Saturday Classes- not only Socks!

Pat's Saturday morning AND afternoon classes want to work on a sampler baby afghan.  This will start in January.  You can choose the size and the squares to knit.  Pat is planning on using either Snuggly Dk or Debbie Bliss Cashmerino DK.

The March socks are coming!!

Pat's March socks are now complete.  These look GREAT!!   She calls them her shy shamrocks socks.  The sock shines in a  soft green color, with green beads and shamrocks adorning the cuffs.  Pat is using K1C2's Pediwick sock yarn--a non wool yarn containing Bamboo and nylon- with plenty of stretch.

Eileen started working on her March socks this past weekend - she chose our newest sock yarn- Smooshy by Dream in Color.  Eileen chose a lovely Blue Green handpaint shade for her own pair.

Wednesday afternoons with Eileen

Eileen's Wednesday afternoon class (4:00 - 6:00) has chosen to work on a sampler afghan themselves!  Here is Eileen's first square- all finished.  And here are some additional squares- some finished, some in progress.

Just Arrived!

New yarns and accessories are still arriving daily.  Check here for  new ideas.

Syros by Katia is a lace weight yarn, composed of Polyester, Cotton, and acrylic.  It has a terrific sheen and a slightly firm hand that makes it perfect for lace weight crochet.

We stock this new offering in many great colors- soft neutrals and daring brights.

This absolutely stunning shawl takes 6 balls of Syros, but I swear half of it is in the dramatic fringe.  Each ball of Syros contains over 300 yards of pure shine.

This smaller scarf takes only 3 balls of Syros- two in the main color and one in a contrasting color for the bauble trim.

Rozetti's new Spectra has fun little bobbles along the edge.  Looks like a fun trim.  One ball makes a long fluffy

Emily's scarf:

Emily is working on her own Spectra scarf using a lovely pink mixture with chocolate.  The little blue bobbles set it off quite nicely.

UPDATE:   Emily's scarf is now done and I'll have it at the shop in the morning.  Just one ball of Spectra made a 60" long scarf.

Petals is a spring fling type of ruffle yarn.  Soft pastels are edged with a shiney ribbon for a bit of reflection.  This yarn is knit like Flounce- fast work.  Shown below is my quick attempt at making a sample.

Marina Multi is available in brilliant colors- enough to brighten up any outfit.  It is knit up just like Triana, so it is fast and easy.

Juniper Moon- Findley Dappled

The lovely lace yarn from Juniper Farms is now available in Dappled colorways.  This lace weight luxury is already prewound into a workable ball.

Lovely designs are available from Juniper Farms.

Knit Happy Bags

New from Knit Happy- great, workable canvas totes- wonderful pricing!  Get one for yourself and a small one for any young knitter in your life.

PANSIES by Ella Rae

A beautiful worsted weight cotton- soft speckled stripes.

This is a wonderful, soft yarn.  Perfect for baby items.  Try this new baby sweater pattern.  Written in 3 sizes, worked in all garter stitch.

Check out all of the colors available in Pansies at:

Artyarns has a new shawl kit available- The Every Which Way Shawl.  It uses the best fibers from Artyarns: Supersoft Cashmere and Beaded Silk for a hint of glitter.  Several colorways available.

Every Which Way Shawl by Artyarns

New from Lantern Moon: Oval Striped Totes

These new carry-alls are made by hand in Vietnam for Lantern Moon.  Each one is different from the next.  So many fun colors available.  Large enough to hold an accessory project such as socks.

What our customers are knitting...

Roberta's Ruana is knit out of Silk Rhapsody Glitter Light by Artyarns.   Roberta chose a beautiful silver medley.  The stitch pattern is an easy one and the Runana works up quickly and easily.

Very nice job Roberta- it looks great.

New Yarn Company now part of TKE Family

 Dream in Color's Smooshy

This is the most popular sock yarn from Dream in Color! Smooshy is a perfect name for this yarn! You'll love knitting with  this yarn and wearing the resultant projects.  Smooshy is  super soft and the colors are absolutely stunning. It is dyed carefully to prevent pooling too, so we think you'll be pleased with the results.   Besides socks, this is the best yarn for a shawl!  Each 4oz skein contains 450 yards, so one skein will make a pair of socks.

Please note: Each skein of Dream in Color Smooshy is unique. There are no dye lots and skeins may vary.

A new Project idea

This is a great shawl pattern, easy, yet very interesting.  The final result is incredibly beautiful!!  This can be knit in any DK or fingering weight yarn.  Shown here in 2 hanks of Happy Feet Dk or in 3 hanks of our new KOIGU!!!

Take a look at the new Koigu- this is perfect for this shawl!

New Colors Arriving

Flicker- New Spring Colors

Flicker is a soft, ultra lofty Baby Alapca with a bit of glitter.  Knit up one of these 2 hat patterns- free with your purchase of Flicker.

Snuggly and Snuggly Kisses

We have just received several new colors in Snuggly DK and Snuggly Kisses.  Snuggly DK is one of the finest baby yarns around- great yarn at a great price.  Snuggly Kisses has soft striping or drifting colors.  New pattern booklets for these new color palettes will be arriving too.

Road to China Light- This is one of the nicest yarns we have.  Blended from Alpaca, Cashmere, Silk, and  Camel.  Recently we received several new spring colors in Road to China Light- the perfect Dk weight yarn for ultra soft projects.

New Colors

Bohemian Shawl

Hermione Hat

Age of Brass & Steam shawlette

The Alice Cowl- written just for Road to China Light!

This is a new pattern that I found on ravelry- written just for Road to China Light.  It is a slightly Ruched Cowl- done in 3 sizes- using from 2- 7 hanks of this fine yarn.  Man this stuff would be delightful as a cowl- so soft and warm around your neck.

TyDy cotton- New colors

Ty-Dy cotton is a light worsted 100% cotton with long striping in rich, fun colors. Each 100g ball has great yardage. We purchased several new patterns that show off the best qualities of Ty-Dy cotton. The Bolero shown here is sized from 34" up to 50", and is quite fashionable at any size.  Make it up in no time.

So What's in the Pool?

This weekend the pool is full of wintery yarns- let's enter March like a LION and shove out all those thick winter wools to make way for the spring yarns.  THE POOL IS FULL!!!

MARLEY- We have a large stock of this yarn and now its on sale at 25% off.  One hank can make up into a scarf or hat.  Maybe try this new cowl set- 2 cowls out of 1 hank- wear them alone or stack them.  Pattern free on ravelry.

ALOHA- 25% off.    Make a scarf in literally 10 minutes!  Make one to go with your Inca Button Hat.  Inca also available at 25% off.

Tikal is a heavy version of Inca and  makes up into a hat in record time.

Get it this weekend for 25% off

ODISEA by Katia - 20% off-- only $7.59 a ball!

Odisea is a blend of wool and acrylic.  The chainette construction makes your knitted garment very light and lofty.  Available in many colorways, and this week- in the pool at 20% off!  That's only $7.59 a ball!!   2 Balls can make up one of these projects- a long scarf, or an adorable baby sweater.

I am working tonight on a 1 ball baby hat to go with the baby sweater.  I knitted the sweater myself and it took me only about 4 hours.  Now you all know I am not a very fast knitter so 4 hours is a good estimate for most knitters.  The hat should be done in less than 2 hours- easy peasy!

I finished the hat- it took less than 1.5 hours- very easy and very fast!  It took less than 1 ball of Odisea.
