Monday March 19-- 10:00 - 12:00 pm

Winged Shawl with Jackie-

We will work on this one more week!

This is a wonderful pattern- surprisingly simple yet impressive as can be.  Make yours out of any fingering, DK or even worsted weight yarn- striping ones seem to look the best.   Make it as long as you wish.  With just 2 balls of Noro Silk Garden Sock, Jackie knit hers as shown here.  She added a button tab to allow her to wear it as a capelet.

For the Shawl, bring size 8-- 24" circulars, but remember- you may need to change to another size needle, depending on your yarn choice.

 SILK GARDEN SOCK

So many of you know we ran out of Noro Silk Garden Sock as a result of this wonderful Shawl.  Well we just received new colors- really vibrant ones- stop by soon for the best selection!

Friday Mornings & Afternoons with Debra
Continuing March 16!

Debra is teaching everyone the Magic Loop technique while working on 2 socks at a time.  Any sock yarn will do!!

You will need a 40" long needle in a size that works with your chosen yarn.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The March socks are here!!

Pat's March socks are now complete.  These look GREAT!!   She calls them her shy shamrocks socks.  The sock shines in a  soft green color, with green beads and shamrocks adorning the cuffs.  Pat is using K1C2's Pediwick sock yarn--a non wool yarn containing Bamboo and nylon- with plenty of stretch.

Eileen chose our newest sock yarn- Smooshy by Dream in Color for her March socks.  Eileen chose a lovely Blue Green handpaint shade for her own pair.

Here is Eileen's socks in prgress...

And below is what they will look like when done.  This pattern is called a Sampler socks- you get to test your skills with several pattern stitches.

For Thursday-  Smiley Stripes

We have just received 2 new colors in Smiley Stripes- 80% bamboo 20% wool- a light Dk weight yarn- soft as silk and just as shiney too.

Try this baby sweater- written for Smiley Stripes.

If you need a solid in this great yarn- boy do we have them- Baby Bamboo is the same composition and gauge as Smiley Stripes- and we have some new colors in this yarn too.

This beautiful blend of bamboo and wool is perfect for babies through adults.  The amount of wool is just enough to help the bamboo hold its shape.  Its soft sheen makes a lovely camisole or tank top for summerwear.

New yarns and accessories are arriving daily.

 Mochi Plus and Mini Mochi

New colors in Mini Mochi

We have new colors in both Mini Mochi and its worsted weight older sister- Mochi Plus.  Both yarns are 100% superwash- one ply twisted roving that drifts

in color for lots of knitting excitement.  The mochi Plus bins are too numerous to show in one photo!  (I'm not kidding).

Mochi Plus Cardigan

With our large stock in Mochi Plus- try this new  girls cardigan- knit side to side all in one piece.

Mochi Plus EntreLac Scarf

Another new idea for Mochi Plus is this great Entrelac scarf!  You can do it in 3 balls of Mochi Plus.

I know that Jackie would welcome anyone on Monday mornings wanting to work on this scarf as she loves entrelac.  I can say the same for Diana on Thursday nights as well.  Believe it or not- this scarf is all one color of Mochi Plus.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Mini Mochi

If you prefer the fingering weight version of these striping colors- try it in the Winged shawl for a dramatic look.  I know the photo is a bit dark, but hopefully you can see how magnificant this shawl is, knit in Mini Mochi.

The Mini Shawlette

Here is another shawl idea- simple straight striping. Try this fast & easy shawlette knit in Mini Mochi.

Lastly- for those Linda Miller groupies- here is one for you!  A Fair Isle hat complete with matching mittens.

All of these patterns are free on ravelry.

BLUE HERON!!

Rayon Metallic is our favorite yarn from Blue Heron.  It is a glistening rayon with a drapey hand and 550 yards of great Shawl-ability.

Naturally Biased Scarf

WE BOUGHT BIG!! We have an extremely large inventory of Rayon Metallic.

Plus, we have several great ideas for this yarn. This is a new one- a long eyelet shawl done with a quick repeat lace pattern.  It will be very drapey for the pefect coverup

Rayon Metallic Mini Shawl

This is our newest shawl for rayon Metallic: and it uses only half a hank of Rayon Metallic- The Mini Shawl.  Get the pattern free at the shop.

 NEW BUTTONS

New buttons from our friends at Dill Buttons.  Dill always has the nicest, newest, and best priced buttons around.  They don't disappoint with these new interchangeable buttons.  The large size will work great on a buttoned cowl or a hat.  You choose the inside & the outside color.

Try The New RIC-RAC from Berroco

This is an ultra fast knit (or Crochet).  We will teach you how in about 30 seconds.  Works up in 30 minutes.  No Kidding!

Every Which Way Shawl by Artyarns

Shawls

I have sprinkled a few shawls throughout this newsletter, but here is a section of brand new ones!!  Make one this month- for spring and summer wear.

This shawlette is called 28's cousin 53- being a reference to the 53 rows you work to create this scarf.  Work it in a fingering weight yarn- one 100g hank of any sock yarn will do.

This is the Boneyard shawl- a classic by Stephen West.  Its about time we focus on one of this shawl designs.  Work this one in a dk weight yarn- such as the Ashton thats on sale this week in the pool.  5 hanks will do it.

If worsted weight is more your speed- try this favorite shawl knit up in  Kudo.  You will only need  2- 100g hanks of Kudo- a self striping cotton rayon blend. See this shawl at the shop- in a different colorway of Kudo than what is shown here.

What our customers are knitting...

 From Washcloth to Scarf!

Mary Rose used a washcloth pattern- the smocked cloth- to work up into a great scarf.  So many washcloth patterns can be used for more than just as a washcloth.  As so many cloths are about 7-8" wide, they make a great scarf when used with worsted weight yarn.

What we do in our spare time...

Now we are in the design business.  So many people are knitting up these ruffle scarves- but when using Triana, or the new Marina,  the track holes in the yarn are large, and tend to allow the scarf to fall off of the back end of the needle.

The Knitter's Edge to the rescue!!!!!!

This is what we have come up with:

How to make these:  Using card stock (an index card or a manilla folder) cut 2 circles the size of the bottom of a soda can or water bottle.  Put a piece of heavy tape across the center of each circle- on both sides- for reinforcement.  Then poke a starter hole in the center using a sharp point ( sharper then a knitting needle).  Finally- poke your knitting needle through the hole and push the circle all the way to the end as shown here.  Voila!  You now have  your own set of Edge Stoppers.   Your ruffle yarn stitches will not fall off!
