Charity Baby Sweater Class
Thursdays in August 3:30 - 5:30 pm
August 2, August 9, August 16, August 23, and August 30
 On Thursday afternoons in August, I will be teaching a How to Knit a Baby Sweater class from start to finish. These 5 sessions will be FREE as it is part of our community charity program. Gain a lot of knowledge learning to make a garment while knitting (or crochetting) a baby sweater for charity. See more info below in a special section. You will need to purchase 2 balls of yarn and there will be homework.
For those who cannot attend the Thursday classes- we would love for you to join us in spirit. The pattern is free to all those willing to donate their baby sweater to our cause- Nurse Family Partnership. Just ask.
 For this week- August 23, we will be learning to sew in the sleeves and sew up the side seams. Please bring a metal seaming needle.
The pattern for the baby pullover will also be available to anyone making a baby sweater for this charity drive.

This week bring size 7 needles and 2 colors in Fantasy Naturale. I have another mosaic cloth pattern and as a bonus- another stuffed fish!
Doublepointed needles will be needed to make the fish.
I will have another additional pattern available too- it will be a surprise (to me too).

Saturday Afternoons in August with Eileen
Handpaint socks
For her August into September socks, Eileen has chosen to knit up this pair of Potpourri socks. One hank of a great handpainted sock yarn will work wonderfully! Eileen is working up her pair in Koigu. We have so many colors available.

Crochet Angels & Snowflakes with Anne
Anne has agreed to continue teaching a crochet class-once a month- on the 2nd Tuesday of every month- through the end of the year. Although she will focus on Thread crochet- worked with a size 6 Steel crochet hook, we can venture into other crochet areas.
We will be repeating our Snowflake & Angel class due to its popularity!! Anne has 2 additional new snowflake patterns available!
 
Its time to try some thread crochet with Anne. The ultimate project is the angel, but we will start with the snowflake. Patterns will be provided as well as the ring for the angel's head and the ribbon for around the angel's neck. You will need 1 ball of Cebelia crochet cotton and a size 5 or 6 steel crochet hook. Beginner and intermediate crochetters encouraged to attend.

Thursdays in September
JoAnne's Washcloth class becomes a shawl class
 We have so much fun making shawls occasionally in this Thursday morning class- so we are going to start another.
 The Sleeveheart shawl will teach us a couple of new stitches- definitely a new cast on. 
This shawlette would look wonderful in either Silky Wool or Manos Silk Blend.
For a change of pace- maybe try our new Acadia- oh what a lovely tweedy look that will yield!

Kogarashi Shrug
Jans entire class has chosen to make our Warm Hands Warm Gifts Project #1- the Kogarashi Shrug. This is knit on size 13 needles with 2 hanks of Kogarashi- a wool/ silk blend which is on sale at 30% off!
Since Jan can't work with wool, she has decided to make her shrug with Patagonia- the 100% cotton in the pool this week. You will need 3 hanks of Patagonia- and it's on sale at more than 30% off!

 To add to our Enchantment Under the Sea theme for August, Debra has chosen to work on a Dead Fish hat. This is perfect for any member of the family- or any good friend that needs to wear a dead fish on their head. No really, this is adorable. Worked up in worsted weight yarn.

Its time to knit a sweater
The current issue of Creative Knitting features a kimono styled jacket design by Kim Dolce. Kim takes the knitter through this sweater step by step as if its the first sweater you have ever knit.
Join us on Saturday mornings in September to take on this sweater. It is knit in worsted weight yarn.
 
The Pattern will be free. The magazine contains another great sweater pattern that you can make as well called Directional Ribs. It knits up in a worsted weight yarn.
Class will start Sept 8.

Join me on Sept 17 to learn several new ways to cast on and bind off, when they work well, and when they don't.
You will just need to bring several sets of needles- sizes 6, 7, or 8. make 1 set a set of double points.

We will always help any knitter get through any project- we are great at hand holding, while encouraging you to move forward in your knitting knowledge.

Well the time has come again- for Holiday Knitting. I know, I know, its only August. But come November you are all yelling at me "Why didn't you start this earlier?". So here we are, yes its only the middle of August, but it is time... so here we go! If you need to, just think of these as great small projects- perfect for gift giving any time of year. 21 small, fast projects are headed your way- one each week starting now.
Starting August 21- Linda Miller will be leading our newest KAL- The Effortless Cardigan by Hannah Fettig. This cardi is softly draping in the front for that "effortless look". This is a top down design- worked in a Dk weight yarn at a slightly larger gauge than normal. Several of our lighter worsted weight yarns can be used as well to give a slightly heavier weight sweater.
